Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sign up for an event?
Select the event you’d like to participate in and complete the application form. We’ll be in touch once we’ve reviewed your application. We have a limited number of charity places for each event, so we encourage you to apply early.
What if I already have my own place in an event?
You’re very welcome to join the team and fundraise for Save the Rhino with no minimum pledge. Just email us at fundraising@savetherhino.org and we’ll get you set up.
What’s the minimum fundraising pledge?
This varies by event. You can find the specific fundraising pledge on each event page. Whatever the amount, we’ll be there to support you every step of the way.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, registration fees vary by event. You can find the details on each event page.
What support will I receive?
You’ll get a dedicated fundraising page, a fundraising pack full of ideas, regular email updates, a team WhatsApp group, and hands-on support from our fundraising team. We’re here to help with tips, resources and encouragement whenever you need it.
What if I don’t reach my fundraising target?
Please don’t worry. We’re here to help you with ideas, resources and support throughout your journey. Many of our fundraisers find that donations pick up significantly in the final weeks before and after their event. We’ll work with you to help you get as close to your target as possible.
Can I run in a rhino costume?
Some of our events offer the chance to run in one of our iconic rhino costumes. The costume weighs up to 10kg, and we’ll help you prepare with a fitting at our London office and tips for training with the extra weight. You can even personalise it with a name. Past favourites include Rhino Tom, AntHORNy, and Big N Chunky! Check the event page for details.
How do I fundraise online?
When you register for an event, a fundraising page is automatically created for you through our platform, Funraisin. This is linked to your team page, making it easy for your supporters to find you and donate. If you’d prefer to use another fundraising platform, please let us know so we can make sure we recognise your fundraising when it comes through.
How do I pay in offline donations?
If you’ve received cash or cheque donations, please don’t send cash in the post. You can pay in offline donations by banking the money yourself and then adding it to your fundraising page using a debit or credit card, or by transferring it directly to our bank account. Get in touch with us at fundraising@savetherhino.org and we’ll give you all the details you need.
Can my fundraising go to a specific project?
The money you raise will go to where it’s needed most, allowing us to make the biggest possible difference for rhinos. If you feel a particular connection to a specific project or region, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
What are donations spent on?
Your fundraising supports ranger training and equipment, habitat conservation, community education programmes, efforts to tackle the illegal wildlife trade and much more. You can find out more about how we spend money and read our annual reports on our website - https://www.savetherhino.org/about-us/how-we-spend-money/
Do I need to be an experienced runner to take part?
Not at all! We welcome people of all abilities and experience levels. Whether it’s your first event or your fiftieth, we’ll support you throughout your journey.
Will I receive anything for fundraising?
When you raise £100, we’ll send you an exclusive Save the Rhino running t-shirt. It’s our way of saying thank you and it’s perfect for wearing on event day so your supporters can spot you in the crowd!
Can I fundraise as part of a team?
Absolutely. You can set up a team fundraising page and invite friends, family or colleagues to join you. It’s a great way to share the experience and boost your fundraising total.
Who can I contact for more information?
Please contact our fundraising team at fundraising@savetherhino.org. We’re always happy to help.
